A Weilenmann Welcome back! Hey!
Dear Weilenmann Families!
Music classes at Weilenmann School of Discovery are some of the most EXCITING and JOYFUL times of our school day! It was so wonderful to welcome back the returning 7/8 Orchestra students and to begin classes at the same technical levels where we left off last June! We are furiously practicing to amaze our school with our premiere Fall 2011 MS Assembly performance of
"A HOEDOWN", Wednesday, October 26th @ 10:30 a.m.
At that time, the "new" 6th grade Orchestra will be performing their "fiddle" piece, accompanied by the 8th grade Orchestra. The MS Bands and Choir will also be presenting their traditional American folk songs.
It was just so heartwarming to be "mauled-over" with hundreds of hugs from the returning LS Music students!!! WOW! Their love and enthusiasm for music (violin) class left me breathless! Within two days of our return to school, the 2nd & 3rd graders "swooped" up their violins and we were busily practicing our seven "Twinkle" rhythms on the open string "Twinkle Express" and "I'm a Little Monkey" on all strings!
Today, the new Kindergartners were able to "meet" their baby violins; it was "love at first sight".
The third grade "entertained" the curious prospective "Open House" families with a zippy rendition of "Bile Them Cabbage Down" - fiddle. Impressive! After about another week of reviewing, the 1st - 3rd grade violins will be embarking upon new song adventures. Who knows how far our musical journey will take us this year?
We'll just keep on singing, dancing and playing our little hearts out!
Parents, you are welcome ANY TIME in our classes. We all love to "show off" what we know; there will be Parent Observations announced by next month (October).

The 4th grade choir, cello/bass & violin/viola classes have just begun. Also, the 5th graders are extremely excited about their new instruments and the chance to learn bass, cello, viola & violin all together! Look on our website soon for some photos of these brand new groups!

WOW! What great fortune we all have to learn to play our instruments together! An unforgettably life-altering experience! I was once a beginner on violin in a 3rd grade NJ public school back in the 1960's. I loved my childhood school music experiences so much, I wish to share my vast background & joy for strings with all of the WSD students and families! It is my greatest pleasure to teach ALL of your children!
